James Henry Junkins, 1930-2010

James H. Junkins was born on February 1, 1930 in El Dorado, KS, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Mary (Daniels) Junkins. James passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at his home in El Dorado, having reached the age of 80 years, 2 months and 14 days.

He graduated from El Dorado High School and then attended Jr. College for a time. He served in the Navy from 1948 to 1955. During that time he attended Tech School in electronics while serving in the Navy. He made his home in El Dorado for many years. After leaving the Navy, he worked for his brother, Martin Marietta in electronics research and development. James was a member of First Baptist Church; American Legion, Elks Club; enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, reading and watching sports, especially the Denver Broncos.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Leona F. (Weber) Junkins; his brother, Thomas J. Junkins, Jr. of Winfield; a son, Craig Junkins of Clearwater, FL; a daughter, Lynne Vriezen of Ponder, TX; a son, Chris Junkins of El Dorado; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
