Junkins Family Association 2002 Reunion

September 25 through September 29, 2002 - 350th Anniversary of the incorporation of York and the 352nd Anniversary of Robert Junkins arriving in Maine

A reunion committee has been formed and is now hard at work planning for a grand Junkins Family Association reunion over the long weekend of September 25-29. On the next page you will see our tentative plans. We hope that many of you can arrive on Wednesday the 25th and we have planned events to keep you busy and involved right through to Sunday. For those that cannot spend the whole time with us, we want you to jump in and out whenever you can. All or any of these times or places may change as the planning goes on but we want you to start making your plans now.

10:00 - 11:30 Reception and viewing at OYHS Marshall Store Gallery, of Junkins family historical artifacts including: the Junkins cradle used by seven generations of Junkins in the Garrison, Winslow Homer's painting of the Junkins Garrison, a painted door panel from the Junkins Garrison, and many other Junkins artifacts soon to be on permanent display in the "Roland W. Junkins Scotland District Family History Room" of the Old York Historical Society.

Reunion Accommodations

A block of rooms has been reserved at the York Commons Inn, U.S. Route One in York, Maine for the Junkins Family Association Reunion weekend of September 25, 26, 27, 28 & 29. The Inn is located near the intersection of U.S. One and Route 91 (Cider Hill Road), 2.5 miles from the Junkins Garrison.

The York Commons Inn is also near many attractions, including: historic York Village, Kittery's Shopping Outlet Malls (ladies note!); York's Long Sands Beach and Short Sands Beach, two of the finest on the Maine coast; Cape Neddick; York Harbor; Portsmouth's Strawberry Banke; the Naval Shipyard; deep sea fishing charters and whale watching.

The Inn offers 90 spacious guest rooms and suites featuring individual climate control, cable TV, personal touch-tone telephones and fire safety equipment systems. Non-smoking and handicapped rooms are available along with a heated swimming pool, free Continental breakfast and free parking.

Limousine service, taxis and rental cars are available in the area. Portland International Jetport is 40 miles to the north and is serviced by Delta, United, Continental. U.S. Air and Eastern Express. Pease International Trade Port is 8 miles south and serviced by Pan American Airways, and Boston's Logan International Airport is 60 miles to the south and serviced by all major carriers.

Special Group Rate for Junkins Family Association

Eighteen non-smoking rooms with two queen-size beds and two smoking rooms with two queen-size beds have been set aside for the Junkins Family Association Reunion at a rate of $105 per day.

You must make your arrangements as early as possible as this weekend will be one of the biggest 350th Anniversary Grand Parades ever seen in the area. This special group rate can only be held until August 25th. Call the Inn direct for your reservations.
